Gateway Island-Murfreesboro Tennessee

I actually had a hard time finding Gateway Island. My GPS kept taking me to the parking lot of on W. College street. I laughed at myself. You have to physically walk through an area to get there the way I navigated. At least I had to. I was so not prepared for how beautiful and peaceful Gateway Island is. It has walking trails, with well-lit paths, a lake with lots of ducks, the babies were staying close to their Mommies. There is a waterfall and such beautiful, lush landscaping throughout the park. The park is adjacent to the Fountains at Gateway, offering access to many wonderful eateries.

There are public restrooms, a gazebo and picnic tables.

The park is available for rent for weddings and events. What a beautiful backdrop for a wedding! If you have not checked out this gorgeous spot, right in the middle of our city you should. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Cannonsburgh Village In Mufreesboro

If you are looking for things to do in Murfreesboro visit  Cannonsburgh historic village, you will not be disappointed. I have visited many times and I always discover something new. It is a 6 acre pioneer village in downtown. Cannonsburgh Village is located at 312 Front Street.

It is family friendly and the little ones will love it! The village is a community treasure, it was founded in 1976. It represents early Southern Appalachian and life in Tennessee from the 1830's to the 1930's.There is a schoolhouse, post office, a gristmill, a doctors office and homestead houses. There are antique exhibits , and it is home to the worlds largest cedar bucket, originally created in 1887 and restored by the Rutherford County Blacksmith Association. I love every building in the village, but the church is my favorite. The day I snapped these pictures the sun was just pouring through its stained glass windows.

Self guided tours are free at Cannonburgh Village, Tuesday through Friday 9:00 to 3:00. They have a cute gift shop in the visitors center.Because Cannonsburgh Village is free to the community, donations are always welcome.

Before you visit, make sure to call ahead because they do host events.
